The first of all, we would like to say thank you to the all supporters of Kitchen Table Charities Trust.
We are pleased to hear good news that KTCT’s Grants Committee has approved a grant of £ 11,000 to build a maternity centre with toilets that are accessible to and suitable for use by people with disabilities, particularly wheelchair users, at Kinama Zone, Bujumbura, Burundi.
In urban areas of Zone Kinama, most of the people do not have health care /maternity facility.
Lack of maternity in the Zone of Kinama area risks the lives of young women and their born.
The children and women mortality rates are high during delivery, and on the other hand, women hardly get any health services.
Therefore the grant will:
- Help to increase the lives of the women and their children.
- Reduce children and women’s mortality in the zone of Kinama.
- Reduce maternal mortality rate from 4.50 to 2.80 per 100 live births.
- Raise nutritional level of pregnant women through health programmes.
