Missing Link (Uganda) – Latrine Project – Update

FIRST PROGRESS REPORT SUBMITTED TO KITCHEN TABLE CHARITIES TRUST

Following the approval of our grant proposal to Kitchen Table Charities Trust (KTCT) Grantee
Committee on 28th February 2019 and award of £5,500 to build a five stance, disabled friendly,
VIP (Ventilation Improve Pit) latrine, with separate facilities for boys and girls, boys urinals, and
handwashing facilities at Abubaker Nursery and Primary School in Busanule Village, Buwofu,
Namukonge Parish in Bugiri District, Uganda, the grant of an equivalent of UGX 25,703,684 was
transferred to Missing Link Uganda bank account on 7th January 2020.

The school was badly in need of toilet facilities and was on the verge of being closed down by authorities due to lack of adequate toilet facilities and as of 30th January 2020, all materials required for the construction and completion of the toilet facility have been procured and are at the site and the progress of the project stands 30% complete. Surprisingly, school enrollment is also improving even before the project is complete. All photos of the toilet project are hereby attached. No structural adjustments were made to the original proposal and we are following all the guidelines and specifications as were suggested by KTCT during project approval.

In summary, we have been able to complete the excavation and digging of pit, laying the foundation, procuring and stocked all required materials, and started the rising of the walls.

we are very grateful to KTCT for having financed this project and extending a helping hand towards lifting the standard of education for the underprivileged and we thus look forward to future engagements.
