The Gunjur Project Association was Established in 2006 and supports and contributes towards development in The Gambia through striving to introduce locally sustainable projects in education, health, environment, and supporting community-led initiatives.
The charity has recently developed a community hub offering a range of services including a library, training room, IT suite, community kitchen & multipurpose rooms.
With grateful thanks to the financial support from Kitchen Tables Charities Trust the charity is now able to build a standalone, disability-friendly toilet and shower block. This will enable services to be offered to people with different abilities to be included in training programs. Most Gambians living with disabilities are marginalised due to the stigma attached to disability. From childhood, persons with disabilities are treated differently. Enabling the community hub to offer services to people with different abilities will have a positive impact on local perception of people with disabilities.
