Solar-powered borehole project – Thanks from Kenya

Many thanks and much appreciation to supporters of Kitchen Table Charities Trust for donating a wonderful gift of £6200 to Light The Poor Group in Kenya to install a solar-powered borehole in an under-served and water-stressed school for underprivileged children with no access to safe water. We are filled with joy and happiness to you for enabling us to implement this project.  It means a lot to us, and even more to the beneficiary school since it goes a long way in reducing the high prevalence of waterborne diseases among 725 poor learners at the school.  It will also boost the…

Water is pumped from the borehole to a large polytank on a tall water tower which is the main water storage point. This is next to our staff quarters and has a tap to be used by the local communities. The height of the tower creates…

Report on the progress of the borehole from Project Share

Report on the progress of the borehole from Project Share  The borehole project at Project Share in Gushegu, Northern Ghana is progressing well. We sank the borehole in mid- May, at the end an uncommonly long dry season. This was really the best time of year to do this, as it means the borehole is definitely deep enough to provide water all year round. The borehole was then mechanised using a submersible pump, and the site fenced for security. The borehole was sunk just a few metres off our land close to our staff quarters (with the land owners permission),…
